So this may not be a travel post about a place but this is a post about a temple that you can visitš¤. I know that many to us do not know about the so many magnificent places other than the seven wonders of the world š so I think we should gain knowledge about other superior places too. And therefore today I present you "vijay stambh", a majestic temple š.
Vijaya Stambha is a victory monument šlocated within Chittorgarh Fort in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan.š It is called as the Victory Tower or Kirti Stambh-"The Tower Of Fame".This huge tower was constructed between 1442 and 1449 AD by Rana Kumbha. It was built in the admiration of Rana Kumbha's victoryš over Mahmud Khilji.Theš 10 foot long tower is made by the combination of two rocks- red sandstone šŖØand marble. There are nine storiesšŖ in this fort with each of the stories having its own individual balcony facing outwards. As one goes through the staircase šone meets with an alternate view of either the central chamber or the adjoining .
The tower is dedicated to Lord Vishnuš.Ā There are many inscriptionsā on the Vijay Stambh from the time of Maharana Kumba. Some of them are as follows:
Verse 17: Kumba is like the mountain ā° Sumeru for the churning of the sea of Malwa. He humbled it's sultan, Mahmud Khilji.
Verse 21: He rescued twelve lakh cows šfrom the Muslim possession and converted Nagaur into a safe pasture for them.
There are many more like this. š( I am showing no hate towards any community. It is just what is written on the temple's wall that i am waiting š)
The brilliant architecture of the temple will amaze youš.It is covered with exquisite sculpturesš of Hindu deities, depicting some of the best scenes of Ramayanš and Mahabharataš. The narrow steps are a prominent feature of the Vijay Stambhš. It is said that it took more than 10 years to build this structure. It has ornate windows and balconies at every storey.
On the fifth floorš of the tower there are inscribed images of Jaita and his three sons šØš»āš¦±Poma, Napa and Puja. At the top of the tower, the genealogy ā³of the rulers from Hamir š¤ŗto Rana Kumbha is sculptured on inscribed slabs. From the terrace one can actually view the beautiful šChittogarh city and the fort.
It is built at the cremation groundš« which was used earlier used by the royal family members of Rajasthan. The traveller can also find a number of Satiš stones placed around the tower.
Henceforth, It will be a great idea to visit this temple and relax yourself.
